Baldwin valedictorian, salutatorian lead graduation as Class of 2023 prepares for college, careers
Abbigail Vallette, Bre’Indel Watkins set positive examples for fellow graduates, Class of 2024 and beyond

BALDWIN, Mich. — Baldwin graduates, Abbigail Vallette, Valedictorian and Bre’Indel Watkins, Salutatorian, led last week’s graduation ceremony as the Class of 2023 prepares for bright futures and the jobs of tomorrow. Vallette and Watkins both addressed the graduating class based on its motto, “You can’t move forward without saying goodbye to the past.”

“It was truly inspiring to have Abbigail and Bre’Indel lead our graduation ceremony as we wish our entire Class of 2023 the very best in the next phases of their lives, whether that involves college, technical training, skilled trades careers or military service,” said Stewart Nasson, Baldwin Junior-Senior High School principal. “Both graduates define what being a Panther is all about and set a positive example for their fellow graduates, the Class of 2024 and beyond.”

Vallette is headed to Ferris State University, where she will study to become a physical therapist. Watkins is also headed to Ferris State University, where she will study to become a pediatrician. Watkins has already earned her phlebotomist certification, and will receive her certified nurse’s assistant certification this month.

There were 18 Baldwin High School graduates honored at the May 26, 2023 ceremony at the Baldwin High School gymnasium. Students, parents and families, and the district’s school board and administration were also in attendance.

“We are so proud of this graduating class, which has set a new bar for achievement and success in our hallways,” said David Forrester, the district’s superintendent. “At Baldwin Community Schools, we take immense pride in preparing our students to be the leaders of tomorrow, and I cannot wait to witness all the amazing things our Class of 2023 will accomplish.”
